BoxLayer is now live for Host Media VPS customers; a modern, multi-tenant control panel built from the ground up for hosting providers, and already shipping its first major update.
A new chapter for Host Media
We're excited to announce that BoxLayer, our brand-new VPS management platform, is officially live. Built entirely in-house by the Host Media team, BoxLayer represents a major step forward: we're not just a hosting provider any more, we're building the tools that power hosting providers.
BoxLayer is available today at console.boxlayer.io for all existing Host Media VPS customers, giving them a modern, intuitive interface to manage their infrastructure, and giving our team a single, unified control surface across our entire node estate.

What BoxLayer does
At its core, BoxLayer is a full-featured VPS lifecycle and infrastructure management platform designed around real hosting-provider workflows. It covers everything from provisioning and monitoring through to customer access and billing integration:
VPS lifecycle management
Create, start, stop, rebuild, resize, and migrate, every action surfaced cleanly with real-time status.
Multi-node control
Manage hypervisor nodes across multiple data centres, monitor capacity, and provision automatically to the right node group.
IP & network management
IPv4 and IPv6 pool management, per-VPS allocation, cloud-init networking, and bandwidth enforcement.
Multi-tenant customer access
Role-based permissions give customers exactly what they need: VPS controls, a VNC console, and nothing more.
Monitoring & audit logging
CPU, RAM, disk I/O, and network metrics per VPS, plus a full audit trail of every action across your organisation.
WHMCS integration
Automated VPS provisioning, suspension, and termination via a WHMCS module, with SSO for seamless customer access.
Version 1.1.0: major UI update already shipped
We're also pleased to confirm that BoxLayer has already received its first significant update. Version 1.1.0, released shortly after the initial 1.0.0 launch, it brings a substantial overhaul focused on the user experience, and sets the tone for how quickly we intend to iterate. Customers logging in today will notice:
Revamped layout and colour scheme
A ground-up redesign of the interface structure and visual language, making the platform faster to navigate and more consistent across views.
Light and dark mode support
BoxLayer now fully supports both light and dark themes, letting users work in whichever suits their environment and preference.
First accessibility audit and fixes
We completed an initial accessibility review of the platform and applied the resulting fixes in this release. Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a checkbox, expect further improvements in upcoming versions.
Built for hosting providers, not just Host Media
While BoxLayer is currently exclusive to Host Media customers, this is just the beginning. Our roadmap includes opening the platform to other hosting providers, allowing them to connect their own hypervisor nodes and offer BoxLayer as a management layer to their own customers. The goal is to make BoxLayer the go-to SaaS VPS control panel in the hosting industry, a genuinely modern alternative to the legacy tools that have dominated this space for years.
"Having BoxLayer live for our own customers before anyone else isn't just a soft launch, it's us putting our reputation behind the product. We wouldn't offer it to the industry if we weren't happy using it ourselves. This is just version 1.1. We already know what's coming in the next dozen releases, and the long term roadmap is genuinely exciting."

Public pricing, sign-up, and onboarding for third-party providers are coming soon. If you're a hosting company interested in getting early access, we'd love to hear from you.
